He also oversees the development of wireless networking, storage and device technologies in Microsoft Windows platforms. Khaki's group has a strong focus on identifying customer scenarios that require end-to-end ecosystem collaboration, creating new and compelling reasons to buy Windows PCs through hardware innovation, integrated system support and application support. This team also drives continued simplification and reliability of third party support for hardware on Windows and the definition of a reliable, regular pace of hardware support releases geared to foster healthy, ongoing innovation in the hardware ecosystem. Khaki brings more than 27 years of hardware and software design experience and a passion for ensuring that Windows-based PCs and devices deliver innovative, relevant and superior experiences. Starting with Windows 95, Khaki spearheaded the addition of dial-up networking, wireless networking and broadband infrastructure. He has since led the initiative to deliver information protocols, application program interfaces and core networking server components such as the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), RADIUS and virtual private networking (VPN) in the Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 platforms. Trained and educated as a computer engineer in London, Khaki spent his early career as a hardware design engineer developing hardware and firmware for GEC Computers Ltd. in Great Britain, and as a UNIX development consultant for AT & T Bell Laboratories. Amongst Khaki's many achievements, he also contributes to his local community and was nationally recognized with the sixth annual Walter Cronkite Faith & Freedom Award by the Interfaith Alliance Foundation.
